How the index works

  1. Selection

Each category holds only hotels that fit it clearly. A capsule hotel sells pods or cabins; an art hotel shows a genuine collection. Borderline cases stay out.

  2. Verification

Descriptions stick to features that are part of each hotel's lasting character: its setting, its building, the way rooms are arranged. Prices and offers are left out, since they move too fast.

  3. Scope

Eleven hotels, four categories, several countries. The list is short on purpose. It will grow slowly, and only when a new entry earns its place.
